The Bathyscaphe Quantieme Annuel is as much a diving instrument as it is a stylish everyday watch. Its distinctive case with a diameter of 43mm is in brushed stainless steel with a ceramic and Liquidmetal bezel. Matching this is an anthracite dial with a soft sun-brushed finish that creates a perfect combination with the colour of the stainless-steel bracelet. The often underestimated annual calendar complication can be optimally red on this dial and only needs to be set at the end of February. The three windows at 2, 3 and 4 o’clock allow for the calendar to be read in its natural succession and all the information to be seen at a single glance. Even though the deisgn is unconventional, it is straightforward and practical - like the Bathyscaphe itself. This timepiece is powered by a manufacture movement with 72 hours power reserve. Thanks to Blancpain’s diving watch history, the Fifty Fathoms has an established place among every collector and is unique and highly functional due to the annual calendar.

My favourite watch is the Blancpain Villeret Quantième Complet. It is actually a men’s model, but I think the watch with 40 mm diameter looks breathtakingly beautiful on a woman, too. The classic complete calendar with Blancpain’s signature moon phase looks stunning with its simple elegance. Each function on the complete calendar can be adjusted individually using the practically invisible under-lug correctors.

Founded in 1735, Blancpain is the oldest watch brand in the world. The Villeret models have barely been aesthetically altered since the early days of Blancpain, yet they still look very contemporary. They have become a timeless classic that is a dependable accessory for generations.

I particularly like this ZENITH Defy Midnight 36 mm for the watch’s combination of features and unique selling points. Firstly, it has an extraordinary colour gradient on the dial, which is highly attractive. You can easily pair the watch with different colourful straps yourself if you find the steel bracelet version too traditional. Try a suitably black strap on one side and a grey one on the other. It is sure to look amazing! Secondly, this model boasts excellent technical credentials thanks to the ZENITH Elite manufacture movement. Overall, it is excellent value for money given what the timepiece offers.
