It is hard to imagine the watchmaking industry without the El Primero. The story begins with a competition between several brand groups: Heuer, Breitling and Dubois Dépraz compete against Seiko and ZENITH to develop the first automatic chronograph movement. ZENITH designs the best movement by far: the El Primero. It is not only thinner, but also significantly more powerful than the other movements, with a 5 Hz chronograph and a 48-hour power reserve. The legendary status of the El Primero has been preserved in the watchmaking industry to this day.

My favourite watch is the Blancpain Villeret Quantième Complet. It is actually a men’s model, but I think the watch with 40 mm diameter looks breathtakingly beautiful on a woman, too. The classic complete calendar with Blancpain’s signature moon phase looks stunning with its simple elegance. Each function on the complete calendar can be adjusted individually using the practically invisible under-lug correctors.

Founded in 1735, Blancpain is the oldest watch brand in the world. The Villeret models have barely been aesthetically altered since the early days of Blancpain, yet they still look very contemporary. They have become a timeless classic that is a dependable accessory for generations.
